With the Presidential Decision, an amendment was made to the Import Regime Decision, re-determining the customs duty and additional financial liability rates to be applied to the importation into Turkey of certain products originating in the Republic of Maldives.

Details of the Regulation

Presidential Decision No. 11563, published in the Official Gazette on 30 July 2026, amends List (IV) annexed to the Import Regime Decision put into force by Presidential Decision No. 3350 dated 31/12/2020. The Decision determines various duty and additional financial liability rates ranging from zero to high rates for a wide range of goods, particularly covering seafood and certain other product groups. This regulation will enter into force on 1 August 2026 and will be executed by the Ministry of Trade.

REGAS Commentary

This decision will directly affect commercial relations between Turkey and the Republic of Maldives, particularly the import aspect. For Turkish companies importing from the Maldives, changes in customs duty and additional financial liability rates may affect product costs and consequently final market prices. Businesses will need to review their import planning and cost calculations according to these new rates. Consumers, on the other hand, may indirectly encounter changes in the prices of products imported from the Maldives.
